[SRT(에스알 타임스) 조인숙 기자] 인간성회복운동추진협의회(이사장 고진광, 인추협)의 학생대표 겸 환경재단 대표인 강채린(현재 미 스탠포드 재학) 학생이 10일 오후 7시~9시 30분까지 노보텔 앰버서더 강남 2층 샴페인홀(서울 강남구 봉은사로 130)에서 2023 새만금 제25회 세계스카우트잼버리에서 조기 퇴영한 영국 대표단을 비롯한 유럽 대표단을 위로하기 위한 자리를 마련한다고 밝혔다.
제6호 태풍 '카눈'으로 스카우트 대원들이 외부 활동을 하지 못하는 것을 감안하여 호텔 내의 홀을 대여한 것이다. 마이크로닷, 범키 등 3명의 래퍼 공연 진행과 한국 학생들의 댄스 및 퍼포먼스 공연, 한국에 대한 퀴즈이벤트, 그룹별 게임 배틀, 장기자랑, 다양한 공연을 준비했으며 스카우트 대원들에게 편지글이 전달될 예정이다.
인추협은 "이번 행사는 강채린 학생이 지난 성인식날 받은 선물을 팔아 마련한 것"이라고 밝혔다.
다음은 강채린 학생의 편지 내용이다.
Dear attendees of the 25th World Scout Jamboree,
First of all, I extend my heartfelt apologies as a student representative of the Humanity Recovery Movement Council. The recent unprecedented heat wave has caused widespread panic, and I understand that the poor condition of the campsite, exacerbated by the challenges of reclaimed sea land, has been deeply disappointing for everyone. Despite the efforts made by President Yoon and the Korean government, I am concerned that it may take some time to fully resolve the current inconveniences. Once again, I apologize for the lack of proper facilities and our unpreparedness for the heat waves.
The Humanity Recovery Movement Council has already informed the government that families of the Diary of Love competition, including myself, are willing to provide a homestay to the Jamboree attendees. Moreover, I am more than ready to assist as a translator on the field if needed. I can imagine that you all arrived in Korea with high hopes and expectations for an enjoyable Jamboree experience. I am acutely aware that no words can compensate for the challenges you have faced over the past few days, and it saddens me to think that your expectations may have been let down.
As a current student at Stanford University studying political science and environmental justice, this situation, which exemplifies the impact of 'global boiling,' has motivated me to enroll in more classes on climate change. It has reinforced my belief that we, as global citizens, are responsible for preserving mother nature for ourselves and future generations. Our actions have had detrimental effects on the Earth, and if we do not act now, we will face further consequences beyond the current heat extremes. To unite like-minded activists, I plan to organize an environmental seminar/event in Seoul this September. I sincerely hope this incident serves as a wake-up call for all Jamboree participants, organizers, and supporters to acknowledge the urgency of addressing natural disasters and achieving net zero emissions.
Jamboree participants, I wish for each of you to remain healthy until August 12th, the last day of the camp, and to return home safely. I highly appreciate your dedication and decision to stay until the end, as you truly represent the future leaders of this world with strong determination.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you require any assistance. The Humanity Recovery Movement Council and the families of the Diary of Love competition are fully committed to providing support through homestays, and I will be available to assist you throughout the camp.

제25회 세계스카우트 잼버리 참가자 여러분 !
먼저 인추협의 학생 대표로서 여러분께 진심어린 사과의 말을 전하고 싶어요.
연일 이어지는 이례적인 폭염은 우리 모두를 당혹하게 만들었어요.
흙으로 메워 지반의 지열과 열악한 환경에서의 캠프는 여러분에게 큰 실망감을 안겨 주었을거라 생각되요.
대통령님이 직접 나서시고 정부 차원에서 최선을 다하고 있으나 여러분의 불편함이 바로 해소되는데에는 다소 시간이 걸려서 안타까울 따름이예요. 더군다나 주최측에서 준비한 일부 시설은 미흡했고 충분히 폭염에 대해 준비하지 못한 것에 대해 진심으로 사과하고 싶어요.
인추협은 이미 정부에 사랑의 일기 가족들이 홈스테이를 바로 제공할 수 있다는 의사를 표명했으며 저희 가정 또한 홈스테이를 제공하겠다고, 이미 신청을 했어요.
또한 저는 여러분에게 도움이 필요하다면 언제든지 통역을 돕기 위해 달려갈 준비가 되어 있어요.
여러분, 한국의 잼버리대회에 참가하면서 부푼 희망과 큰 기대감을 안고 왔을 거라고 생각해요. 지난 며칠간의 상황을 무슨 말로 위로를 해야 할까요. 여러분의 기대감을 무참히 짓밟은 것만 같아서 마음이 너무 아파요.
저는 현재 스탠포드 대학교 재학생으로서 정치학과 환경학을 배우고 있으며 이번 일을 계기로 다음 학기에는 더 많은 환경학 수업을 신청했어요. 이제 우리의 삶의 터전인 지구가 끓고 있다는 것에 대해 또 한 번 절실히 느끼게 되었기 때문이에요.
또한 우리의 지구를 우리가 지키고 잘 보존하여 후세에게 물려 줘야 한다는 막중한 책임감을 다시 한번 다짐하게 되었어요.
잼버리 학생 참가자 여러분 앞으로 우리가 환경 보호에 관심을 가지고 실천하지 않는다면 미래는 단순히 폭염만으로 끝나지 않을 수도 있어요. 자연은 그동안 우리들에게 충분히 무한히 많은 것을 아낌없이 주었어요. 우리의 이기심과 무분별한 개발과 현대화가 지구를 병들게 했어요. 잼버리 참가자 여러분, 저는 9월에 모든 세대를 포함하는 환경 세미나 및 행사를 서울에서 개최할 예정이예요.
이번 일을 계기로 세계의 모든 잼보리 참가자 여러분들도 환경 보호에 대한 자각과 자연의 역습에 대해 깊이 생각해 볼 수 있는 기회를 가지시기를 간절히 바래요.
잼보리 참가자 여러분들은 8월 12일까지 몸 건강히 캠프를 잘 마치실거라 믿어요, 이번 캠프를 포기하지 않고 끝까지 남아준 여러분들은 강한 정신으로 무장한 미래를 짊어질 인재들이며 여러분들의 도전 정신은 정말 최고라고 생각해요!
